Our first day on the last day of the week

Before crashing onto our sleeping bags Thursday night after a long day of travel, we unpacked the perishables and tiredly made an attempt at a good first impression by leaving a few surprises for the Noorvik school staff.
The next morning, we could tell teachers were beginning to show as we looked out at the foggy Friday morning to see all the sno-gos & wheelers parked outside the school.

Today was the last day in a long week of state-mandated testing for many of the students so the teachers were tired as were the students. There was also mad planning for Saturday's prom and the Juniors all-nighter fundraising activity this weekend which we were abruptly volunteered to chaperone. We smiled big as we tried not to think about the sleep we had already missed.
Assisting with test taking and in the classroom as well as with lunch arrangements comprised the rest of the school day, but the real job came when school ended.
Boxes and boxes of colored construction paper, gossamer, and iridescent streamers were the ingredients that would eventually make up the props for their high school prom. Paper needed to be cut, pillars constructed, and birds of paradise created for their 'Night to Remember'.
It wasn't until about 9:30pm when we finally got our dinner, but the place looked good and was almost ready for tomorrow. We walked off our moose-couscous dinner and photographed the colorful sunset. Kiddies who recognized us from school called our names and showed off their sledding skills to us. Another great day in Noorvik came to a close.
